Greek Yogurt Review

Greek Yogurt Review

So I have been on a no holds bar diet for the last 6 months.

No fast food, no soda, high protein, small meals, 30 minutes of aerobics every day MINIMUM (usually do 55 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weight training 6 days a week)

But because I had three bad falls down our icy front steps and a killer bought of costochondritis I have only lost 10 pounds and gone down one size.

GRRRR!!!

So a friend of mine said I should start taking a multivitamin each morning, drinking a high protein shake and eating a greek yogurt for breakfast, and make sure I carry snacks in my workout bag.

I'd never tried greek yogurt so I got four different kinds.

First I tried Stonybrook Farms Oikos Honey flavored yogurt. This yogurt was very thick, very tart despite the honey, and I ended up adding a dollop of agave nectar to it. Despite that I did enjoy it. I love Plain yogurt with honey and granola so I was a fan of the taste, loved the texture and the serving size was perfect. Could have used a tsp more honey.

Next I tried Chobani Pineapple: This was a lowfat not a fat free yogurt. This was a perfect blend of not too sweet, not too tart. It was perfectly creamy, mixed dreamy, and left me sated for 4 hours while I walked the dog and shoveled the front walk. I will definitely be buying this again and trying the other flavors.

FAGE Total Greek Yogurt: This is the full fat ice cream like greek yogurt. Had I seen how much fat was in it before I bought it I may have reconsidered. But seeing that I hadn't had a single gram of fat today I decided it was OK to indulge for science sake. This yogurt is AMBROSIA. SUPER thick yogurt, with honey so clear its like glass, with just the right sweetness. I ate this slowly savoring each bite, and then licked the container clean much to my dog's dismay. This is BY FAR the best tasting yogurt I have ever tasted. But for 12 grams of fat and only 8 grams of protein for 3/4 cup it had better be!

So for fat content and calories to taste I think Chobani makes the best tasting Greek yogurt.

I am going to go to the local greek store to see if they have a Greek yogurt they recommend. But for now I think I will be trying some more Chobani.
